Heartbroken - What Happens Next?

Open photo album filled with happy memories beside a rain-covered window, reflecting on a past relationship after heartbreak.

If your quiz result was Heartbroken, the last thing you probably need is someone telling you it's time to get back out there.

It isn't.

Whether a relationship ended recently, you're still struggling with something that happened a long time ago, or you're grieving the future you thought you'd have, heartbreak doesn't work to somebody else's timetable.

You don't need to decide what's next yet.

For now, let's concentrate on making where you are today feel a little easier.

1. What Are You Really Missing?

Sometimes we miss the person.

Sometimes we miss what having that person represented.

Companionship. Security. Affection. Someone to message. Plans for the weekend. Physical touch. Being part of a couple. The future we'd imagined.

And sometimes we miss all of it.

Understanding what you're actually grieving doesn't magically make the hurt disappear, but it can help you understand what feels so empty now they're gone.

2. When Heartbreak Follows You to Bed

You can keep yourself busy during the day.

There are people to talk to, things that need doing and plenty of distractions.

Then you get into bed.

Suddenly it's quiet β€” and your mind decides this is the perfect time to replay conversations, remember things you'd forgotten, wonder what they're doing now or think about everything you wish you'd said differently.

You might struggle to fall asleep in the first place. Or perhaps you fall asleep exhausted, only to wake at 3am with your mind wide awake and your thoughts racing.

Heartbreak can be exhausting enough without losing your sleep as well.

If your mind won't switch off at night...

Our Sleep Again Hypnosis Collection gives you something different to use depending on where you're struggling.

🎧 Quieting the Mind β€” when your thoughts are racing and you need help slowing everything down.

🎧 Fall Asleep β€” for settling at the beginning of the night and allowing yourself to drift off.

🎧 3am Wake-Up Reset β€” for those middle-of-the-night wake-ups when your body is tired but your brain has other ideas.

πŸŒ™ Sleep Again

Three hypnosis recordings created to help you quieten your thoughts, fall asleep and find your way back to sleep when you wake during the night.

3. When Your Heart Hasn't Quite Caught Up

Sometimes you understand what happened logically.

It's over.

But emotionally?

That's a different matter.

You may still feel connected to them. Perhaps part of you is still hoping things will change, or you find yourself pulled back into memories even though you know you need to move forward.

This isn't about forcing yourself to forget someone.

It's about beginning to loosen the emotional hold the relationship still has on you.

🎧 Still feeling emotionally attached?

Our Release Emotional Cords hypnosis recordings use guided imagery to help you begin releasing that emotional connection.

There are two versions, so you can choose the imagery that feels right for you:

4. The β€œIf Only...” Stage

If only I'd noticed sooner.

If only I'd said something differently.

If only I'd tried harder.

If only I hadn't done that.

If only I'd left sooner.

Regret can keep us emotionally tied to a relationship long after it's ended.

You can't go back and give the past a different ending.

But you can begin changing how much space it occupies in your life today.

5. When It Just Didn't Work Out

Not every relationship ends because somebody was terrible.

Sometimes two people can love each other and still not be right together.

Sometimes circumstances get in the way.

Sometimes one person wants something the other can't give.

And sometimes we're left searching for an explanation that will finally make the ending feel okay.

You may never get the perfect explanation.

Part of moving forward can be accepting:

It didn't work out β€” and that doesn't mean the relationship meant nothing.

6. Be Careful With the Quick Fix

After heartbreak, attention can feel incredible.

Someone finds you attractive.

They message you constantly.

There's excitement again.

For a little while, that empty space doesn't feel quite so empty.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying attention or meeting somebody new.

But when you've been missing connection, something intense can feel particularly powerful.

So give yourself permission to take your time.

You don't have to decide where something is going after three dates.

7. You Don't Have to Start Dating

This is really important.

Being single doesn't mean you have an immediate vacancy that needs filling.

There can be enormous value in having some space between relationships - even if being on your own wasn't what you originally wanted.

Time to rediscover routines.

Time with friends.

Time to work out what you enjoy.

Time to understand what happened.

Time to decide what you'd want differently if there ever is a next time.

8. When You Start Looking Forward Again

There probably won't be a morning when you wake up and announce:

β€œExcellent. Heartbreak completed.”

It tends to happen much more quietly.

You realise you haven't checked their social media for a while.

A song comes on and it doesn't hurt quite as much.

You make plans you're genuinely looking forward to.

You laugh and realise you weren't thinking about them.

Perhaps you notice someone attractive.

Or maybe you simply realise:

β€œI'm starting to feel like me again.”

That's enough.

You don't have to be ready for another relationship.

Your next chapter can simply start with you.

❀️ Your Next Step

When the pain isn't quite so raw, your questions may begin to change.

Instead of:

β€œHow do I get over what happened?”

you might start wondering:

β€œWho am I now?”

β€œWhat do I want my single life to look like?”

β€œWhat do I want to leave behind?”

β€œWhat's next for me?”

That's where our Coming to Terms With Being Single journey begins.
